One of our most frequently asked questions.. “Which do you recommend?”
The answer is simple, Cedar. Why Cedar? Well, let’s get into the heat of it. When we meet with clients to discuss their wood fence projects and provide estimates, we always go into these estimates with the mentality of wanting to provide the client with the best product possible in whatever style they choose. Cedar always has been and always will be our number one recommendation because we understand that these projects are INVESTMENTS. You may ask, if all you want to sell is Cedar then why offer Pressure Treated Pine? Well, we also want to provide you with the absolute best fence possible while still meeting your budget. Pressure Treated Pine is not a bad product to use, IF it is built right. Let’s get into some comparisons. Life Expectancy with Proper Maintenance: Pine: 10-15 Years Cedar: 20+ Years Wood Stability: Pine: Prone to Shrink, Warp, Twist, and Split. Cedar: Does NOT Shrink, Warp, Twist, or Split. Aesthetic Appearance from new to weathered: Pine: Yellow/Brown Cedar: Red/Silver Price Point Cheapest to Most Expensive ($-$$$$): Pine: $ Cedar: $$$ Maintenance: Pine: Medium-Yearly Cedar: Low-Yearly Either can be stained and sealed. Pressure Treated Pine is the more budget friendly of the two but all in all if you’re looking for a economical long term investment with minimal upkeep- then Cedar is the way to go. Either material can be built in a number of different styles and can last a long time with proper care and maintenance.
